“Tammy was saved at a Bill Gothard Seminar, became involved
in Word of Life clubs as a young person, and went on to attend
Bible college, willing to go into any ministry where God might
want her. Bill was raised in a Christian home and participated
as a child in AWANA clubs, where he learned valuable lessons
about the Word of God and his responsibilities as a Christian.
When Bill was a teenager, his uncle, who served with Trans World
Radio, challenged him to give a year of his life to missions.
Bill accepted the challenge and spent a year and a half with TWR.
During that time Bill first felt called to missions. When he
returned to the U.S., however he “got married, got into debt,
and got trapped in a job that was not where God wanted me.”
Both Bill and Tammy continue to be involved in the ministries of
Liberty Baptist Church to whatever extent possible. Obviously
with a schedule that routinely takes them away many weekends, it
is not easy to maintain an integral ministry role. Both are,
however, involved in leadership in the AWANA program on
Wednesday nights, small group Bible studies, personal
mentorship, and discipleship, outreach and evangelistic
activities as the Lord allows.
Then, in
2003, Bill and Tammy took a missions trip to Honduras, and God
did some significant work in their hearts while there were
there. “He broke our hearts for the people,” Bill writes. “He
forced us to look at our lives, how blessed we were, and how we
were squandering away valuable time that we were supposed to be
investing into peoples’ lives. So, here we are, fifteen years
late, but ready to do what God has called us to do.”” – From
“Message” Summer/Fall 2005

“Liberty Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church that
has been ministering to the Village of Alanson, Michigan since
1986. A local Christian businessman passed by an old church
building every day on the way to work for many years. God
started working on his heart and directing him to rekindle a
long dead fire in this community.
God has blessed this little church in many ways and with many
wonderful people who have a heart not only for God, but also for
the people of their community and the world. This is a group of
believers that truly live up to the church’s slogan, “Passion
for God, Compassion for People”.
It is from this church that we, The Walker Family, are being
sent to minister among the people of Cameroon. We are honored,
and truly humbled to be the arms of LBC that God is using to
reach half way around the globe.”
